It wasn’t our longest day, but we got up pretty early to beat those morning Walmart crowds. Not wanting to overdo ourselves, we cancelled our planned visit to Greenfield Village in Dearborn Michigan and just headed straight for Canada, in hopes of getting to the campground early enough for a proper evening and a good night’s sleep. So please enjoy the sum total of today’s photos below.
One peril of dry-camping in an RV for three nights is a full holding tank. We tried to be sparing with our use of the head, but the “FULL” indicator shown brightly, and it became our mission to find the nearest dump station. One of the reasons we picked this Walmart (and eventually found it) was it’s proximity to a Camping World store with an RV dump, according to the exit guide. Turns out to be permanently closed. No problem, google is our friend. “RV DUMP ELKHART” returned the same CW store, but also that “ALL” service stations on the toll-road have free RV dump stations. Back on the road to the next one (36 miles) but the RV dump had been decommissioned. On to the next one (20 miles) which never had an RV dump. We finally resigned ourselves to making pit-stops when needed (always inquiring about a dump station) until we reached our campground (at about 7:00pm) and gave the holding tank (it was really “holding it”) a nice cleansing flush. We paid for internet access at the campground, but it is so slow that I am not going to be able to post this (or yesterday’s) until tomorrow, if I can get some clear bandwidth before we go site-seeing.
